Adapting a routine

Good morning readers! I hope you are having a wonderful morning. With the summer coming to an end and the back to school soon I feel the urge to change things up a little and get into a new and improved routine. It is something I always have issues with but find it so comforting. I find it hard to break old habits but find that change is sometimes needed. This fall, I have a few changes coming and I want to make sure I have a good routine to help with daily tasks. So, I decided to share with you some of the things that help me start my day right and unwind at night.

I start my day at 5:45am. I know it is early but my boyfriend starts work at 7am and we need to leave the house by 6:30am. I typically prepare breakfast in the morning but lunches and snacks are done the night before. I pack my gym back with a last-minute add-on, change in my gym clothes and I am ready to head out. I might sleep in every now and then because during the week I prep things the night before as much as possible.

When I get home, I get my lunch unpack, prep dinner and clean a few things around the house at the same time. I am one of those people that if I sit down, I don’t get back up to do house stuff. By getting to it first thing allows me time to make sure it is done and relax. After dinner, I will prep our lunch for the next day and maybe some snacks. After a few tasks are completed, it’s “me” time. I might watch some Netflix, YouTube or play video games. It is never for very long as I try to be in bed between 10pm and 10:30pm.

Weekends are the fun stuff. I sleep until 7:30am or 8am, which I know I should keep waking up around 6am but I usually let my body decide when it’s done. Mornings are a relaxing time at my house so we game, watch videos or read a book. Depending on the weather, we will tackle some to-do’s inside or outside the house.

In all this scheduled time and trying to accomplish all our to-do’s we make time to spend time with friends and family. The above is mainly what happens everyday but things happen and change. Health is very important to us and we strive for healthy daily habits. I try to exercise 4 days a week, sometimes 5 (2 cardio and 2-3 weights). We also have a healthy smoothie breakfast during the week with salads for lunch with a snack. Splurge happens on Fridays with breakfast or lunch out. Depending on how are weeks unfolds, we might go out for dinner during the week or save it for the weekend. I love Sunday brunch but lately, it has been our grocery time but we try for once a month.

What do your day and week look like? Do you strive for high productivity or do you spread the tasks over the week? I hope this gives you a view inside my daily life. If you want to see more, follow me on IG (link at the top).
