Doing more of what makes you happy

Good morning! I hope your day is off to a good start. I wanted to start the week on a good note. I started to read about the Danish and Norwegian art of hygge or coziness. It is fascinating! I love their view and concept on coziness and comfortable conviviality. With the summer coming to an end (Canada is pretty early on that), I am getting ready for coziness and warm blankets.

In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The warm glow of candlelight is hygge. Cosying up with a loved one for a movie – that’s hygge, too. And there’s nothing more hygge than sitting around with friends and family, discussing the big and small things in life. (1)

This concept of togetherness and enjoying the moment falls perfectly with minimalism as well as living with simplicity. It forces me to think and plan to slow down to enjoy the small and everyday moments. With the summer vacations, I have been a little out of my routine and in production mode to accomplish as much as possible while the weather is nice. With the back to school starting in August, I want to finish my “to do” list but know all too well it won’t all get done. I am slowly ready through books to learn more about the various concept within hygge and hopefully start practicing it more. I need to prioritize my objective and take some moments to enjoy the day. After all, it is about the journey and not the destination.

Have you heard of hygge before today? How well do you know hygge and how to practice it every day? Did you read about it? As always, please don’t forget to comment below and like/subscribe if you like the content of this post. I hope to resolve my issues with publishing posts shortly. In the meantime, I apologize for the social media empty links. I hope to see you back on the blog soon and please have a look around and DM.
