May Favorites

Happy first weekend of June! The beautiful weather is finally here to stay. Are you ready for hiking trails, beach walks, camping, picnics, and bbq on the deck? We started our exploration of our province a few weekends back with a long walk along the waterfront. On this beautiful note, I continue with the “Favorites” series of post to share with you my journey to a simple conscious living and all the cool things I discover and love along the way. Some might be products, some might be clothes and some might be lifestyle items. I continued testing new and natural products as well as searching for alternatives. I also have a special announcement for you but you’ll have to wait until the end. Don’t forget to leave comments or like if you enjoy the content and love the good news.

Disclaimer: The links below are not sponsored or affiliated links but only for ease of reference. I know that some are not ethical or natural items. I started the transition recently, therefore, I am still in between but doing my best to move towards a more conscious living. I want to use and finish what I have on hand and slowly replace with ethical and natural alternatives. I believe in a balanced life so I might keep some things I love but if you have alternatives for any of the below or suggestions I would love to read you.

Indie Lee – Lemongrass Calendula Body Lotion

About the brand:
The story of Indie Lee is quite interesting. The way they describe the brand on their site is as follows: “Comprised of the finest ingredients from around the world, the line is designed to enhance the face and body with gratifying green glamour. Indulge in the luxurious feel and beautiful benefits of Indie Lee products while protecting the Earth– and your body. Unleash your inner and outer beauty with Indie Lee, an eco-chic collection of skincare products that combine style and sustainability without sacrifice.” The brand feels luxurious and the ingredients list is short.

This lotion was given to me as a gift and I absolutely love the smell. It feels great on the skin when you apply it, although it is very liquid, it is absorbed quickly into the skin. I prefer personally a creamier texture and I will soon start to make my own body butter (so excited!). On the plus side, it leaves the skin moisturized for at least 24hrs and a subtle scent for the day ahead.

Naturopathica – Lemon Verbena Omega-3 Hand cream

About the brand:
Their philosophy is “CLEAN. EFFECTIVE. HOLISTIC.” As they tell so well on their website: “Barbara Close founded Naturopathica in 1995 with a simple mission: to educate people on the benefits of holistic health and its connection to beauty. Inspired by our background in herbalism, we believe in the healing power of plants and are committed to clean, sustainable ingredients. We take a holistic approach to health and beauty, seeking the source of an imbalance rather than the symptom to provide true and lasting results.” They are audited and certifies by Ecocert. They do not use animal-derived ingredients, petroleum, silicone or endocrine disruptors.

This hand cream changed my hands. There is a sentence I never thought I would say but it did. It is very hydrating and moisturizing cream with a particular smell (it is not sweet but very fresh). It leaves an oil like on your hands after applying, which is why I like to apply it before bed.

Sterline Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser

About the brand:
To be honest, I purchased this back in January and did not really look into this company. I just wanted a nice small diffuser to try it out and see if I like it. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything on the brand itself.

Although I do not know who made this product, I can say I really enjoy diffusing oils at the end of the day. I put this on our console table in the living room and it is perfect for that room. It does create an atmosphere of relaxation when I put tee tree oil in and diffuse. I am slowly getting into all the oils; their purposes and benefits. If you use them and know more, please leave details in the comments below. So far, I use cinnamon, tee tree, and orange.

My cat doesn’t seem to like some of them. I need to do more research on the effects of diffusing oils on cats. Please share if you know anything about that.

Omaïki – Reusable makeup pads (small or large squares)

About the brand:
Omaïki has been established since 2007 and offers cloth diapers, accessories, and daily and personal hygiene products for toddlers and adults. It is originally a company for baby and mama but there are lots of other products like those reusable makeup pads. It was founded under the principles of “eco-friendly” and “useful”. It is proud to be 100% local made (in Montreal, Quebec, Canada)and a family-owned business.

I use them every day to take my makeup off or to apply toner or simply to wash up my face after a scrub. The cotton is very gentle on the skin. I recommend wetting the pads first to avoid using too much product (micellar water or toner). They go in the washer and dryer. Before washing them, I would recommend using a stain remover if you want to use the pads to remove your makeup. It is because your mascara might stain the cotton but not to worry it gets all clean in the wash.

P.S. The above picture is from my IG account when I first received them. They are well loved now and should not be pictured with their mascara stains on them at the moment.

BBQ season

This is just my favourite at the moment. I love fish, chicken, steaks, mixed fresh veggies, basically anything can go on the grill and I will eat it.

News alert! I am working on rearranging the website to be more user-friendly and I can officially say I will be uploading regular content Mondays and Fridays. Also, there is now a Facebook page you should go see. The link is also at the top of the page. I share articles, blog posts, favourite influencers, products/brands, and I was thinking about a Facebook live every season or so, what do you think? It will be a great place for our little community to grow. I always love getting your suggestions, recommendations, and comments so don’t hesitate to message me. On that note, don’t forget to subscribe using the top left menu to get an email when I upload new content. I hope you’ll be back on Monday to start your week right. Have a lovely weekend!
